  • How long is the two-day session for students?
    • Day one begins at 8am and ends at 10pm
  • How long is the two-day session for families/guests?
    • Day one begins at 8am and end at 5pm. We offer a list of fun things to do in the city while your student remains at orientation
  • How long is the one-day session for students?
    • Day one begins at 8am and ends at 5pm
  • How long is the one-day session for families/guests?
    • Day one begins at 8am and ends at 5pm
  • Are the student sessions separate from the family/guest sessions?
    • Yes, while the sessions occur on the same days, students and families/guests will be separate.
      • During the two-day sessions the groups split after the welcome and reunite on day two at the resource fair
      • During the one-day sessions the groups split after the welcome and reunite at the end of the day.
  • What meals will be provided for students?
    • For the two-day sessions students will receive continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner on day one and breakfast on day two.
    • For the one-day sessions students will receive continental breakfast and lunch
  • What meals will be provided for families/guests?
    • For the two-day sessions families/guests will receive continental breakfast and lunch on day one and continental breakfast on day two.

  • Where will the student be staying?
    • Student will be staying in Cedar Hall North
  • Will families/guests be housed at orientation?
    • Parents and families will NOT be housed on campus and must make their own hotel accommodations while attending orientation. Recommendations will be provided at a later date.
  • Where will we be parking?
    • You will be parking in parking lot D (Parking Deck). 116 South Cedar Street, Charlotte, NC 28202. Additional parking for oversized vehicles will be available in Lot A (see signs during arrival).
  • How can I submit my medical information?
    • Pyramed Student Patient Portal is our online medical record system. On this site, you can upload medical records, input vaccines and test results, view upcoming appointments, and review and print your records. To access Pyramed Student Patient Portal, please visit: https://www.studenthealthportal.com Log-in to your account, then click on “new student checklist.”
  • How can I change my orientation date, post registration?
    • Email, orientation.clt@jwu.edu with your preferred date.
  • What Should I wear?
    • Casual clothing and walking shoes. We will provide a JWU t-shirt for day 2!
  • Who do I contact with questions?
  • How do I Inform New Student Orientation of an Accommodation request for myself or a guest I am registering?
    • Students, families/guests needing reasonable accommodations for any disability, please indicate on the registration site your accommodation(s) request.
    • NOTE: All requests for accommodations must be submitted no later than two weeks prior to your arrival on campus for the orientation session you have selected. If you require additional information, please contact Megan Horn at 980-598-1512 or via email megan.horn@jwu.edu
  • Do I need to take my Placement test at orientation?
    • The exam is completely done online over the summer, preferably before you attend summer NSO. However, if you have questions or concerns please reach out Student Adacemic Services: Phone: 980-598-1330 – email sas.clt@jwu.edu.
